Our commitment to high quality psychological treatment has led us to expand our practice to provide consultation and supervision services. Compass Psychological Services, LLC, provides professional, parent, and school consultation to disseminate our knowledge of empirically-based psychological services to the greater community.
Through professional consultation, we consult with colleagues about our areas of expertise and can provide peer supervision/support. Often, our clinicians provide consultation to, and collaboration with health providers and schools involved in you or your child’s care. We are also available to provide presentations on various topics within the community upon request.
Through parent consultation, our doctoral level clinicians are available to discuss any concerns parents may have about their child’s psychotherapy treatment or comprehensive testing evaluations. Consultation is often helpful in providing clarification to parents about test results and recommendations made in their child’s report (either conducted by ourselves or other professionals). Parents may also seek consultation from our clinicians in order to gain more knowledge about a particular issue they believe their child is struggling with in their life (this can take place at any time during treatment). Parent consultation can occur when your child is a patient in our practice, for a second opinion, or at the outset of treatment. Our clinicians are available to help provide diagnostic clarification, psychoeducation, and to determine if a child would benefit from other treatment services (e.g., testing, medication consultation, occupational and/or speech therapy). We will provide any referrals that we believe will be beneficial for you or your child.
Through school consultation, our doctoral level clinicians often consult (with your consent) with your child’s teachers about behaviors they may be seeing in the classroom. This can involve teacher report forms, phone consultations, or school meetings. Moreover, our clinicians may also consult with teachers about treatment interventions and strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to help manage your child’s symptoms. For example, this could include behavior modification systems, safety plans or specific interventions to help children experiencing school refusal. We can also conduct school observations of your child (in-classroom, lunch time, and recess). This helps our clinicians obtain a more detailed view of your child’s difficulties within the school setting to create a more effective individualized treatment plan. Our clinicians frequently help patients’ schools and teachers in the development and implementation of any IEPs or Section 504 Plans that are necessary to help your child succeed academically, emotionally, and socially in a school setting.
Through clinical supervision, we provide new individual therapists and school psychologists with a high-quality supervision relationship. Supervision includes constructive evaluation and feedback to fulfill state licensure requirements and support professional training and development. We are invested in mentoring new clinicians in the field. If you are seeking supervision, please complete our Contact Form.
